Hello Everybody! This is Jerra Lusk Montsinger and I'm thrilled to get this news forwarded by a friend in Huntington. Having attended the Lab School from 7th grade, I graduated in 1965. I loved all my years there and have lots of good memories. As I got older and worked at a career in the Insurance Industry, I realized that the education I received was of a higher quality and was instrumental in any successes I enjoyed. I think we had a more individual educational experience and that our teachers were really professors and an enhancement to the process. I will think about those I have kept in touch with to some degree and hopefully add to your list. Jerra

I saw the article in today's Herald-Dispatch regarding the Lab School. I attended the school in the 9th and 10th grade, and left in 1967 to go to Huntington High where I graduated from in 1969. My siblings also attended the lab school. My sister, Sharon Cundiff graduated from there in 1968. My brother Mark Cundiff also attended for several years. He also graduated from Huntington High in 1971. I have many fond memories of the school :) The education I received was excellent! This is Jo's husband, Larry. Please add me to your list as well. Larry Kendall Thank you for bringing the Lab School students back together. It has been a very long time, although I have kept in touch with some.

 

My name is Linda Ann (Meadows) Hodges. I have lived in GA since 1967 when my husband, Richard J. Hodges (MU 1967 Engineering school grad), my 18 month old daughter and I moved to Atlanta. He had received a NSF teaching assistantship at GA TECH. When my girls were in school (we ended up with two!) I went back to school to become a Registered Nurse. I worked as an IV specialist and did Home infusion therapy and also taught IV therapy to nurses in nursing homes all over GA, SC and TN for 26 years. I retired in March of 2006 to take care care of my husband, and he passed away in May, 2007. My Mother is still living, and she is nearly 98. I was telling her the other day that I remember studying about Pompeii in the 3rd grade (Mrs Rummel) and thought at that time that I would like to go there some day. Three years ago, I did just that. The Lab school teachers really instilled a love of learning and sense of adventure in us. I am very glad to have had that opportunity. I started first grade there, and left when I began the 9th grade (1958, I think) at Cammack Jr. High, and finished at Huntington High, Class of ’62. I moved from the Atlanat metro area, to Athens, GA in late 2007. My daughters, son-in-law, grandson and my Mother are all here in Athens, too. My brother, Stephen P. Meadows (MHS grad in 1955 or 1956, I think) passed away on April 6, 2010 from cancer. I had moved him down here from Beckley, WV., 7 months earlier. My other brother, Clifford Allen Meadows also graduated from MHS either the class just before or the last class. He has been living in Winston Salem, NC and has owned a fence building company there for many years. He also has a cabin 8 miles from Hinton, WV on the Greenbrier River.
